Welcome to Issue 12 of Teachers News.

This month, and next – we’re taking a closer look at the teaching of Chinese characters.

Our first instalment features an interview with Zhu Zhu, Chinese Language Programme Director at Asian Studies at the University of Edinburgh. Have a read to find out Zhu’s top tips for introducing characters and working with beginners.

Next, Zhu recommends a few resource sites that are good to reference when teaching characters – one for those teaching children and a second for teachers working with adults.

Finally, if you’re looking for some additional character writing sheets and practice, make sure you have at the Discover China resource area where you can download additional resources. Just register your details, if you haven’t already, and you can access the materials for free.
